The story of the week for this week is My Friend Fred by Frances Watts with illustrations by A. Yi. It has been shortlisted in the Book of the Year: Early Childhood by the Children's Book Council of Australia.

Did you see the clues as to who Fred's friend was? 

Stories of friendship abound in our library and this story reminded me of a favourite: Pearl Barley and Charlie by Aaron Blabey.

They are two characters who are different in almost every way but are the very best of friends.
