This week's story is One Runaway Rabbit written by David Metzenthen and illustrated by Mairead Murphy. It is shortlisted in the Book of the Year: Early Childhood category.
When I first saw the title and front cover of this book I was transported in time to when my daughter's were little girls and we had two rabbits....Twinkle and Sparkle...We were often worried that they would escape!
The rabbit in this story certainly has an adventure.

Did you spot the little character that enticed the rabbit away? Look at 1.04 for its first appearance.
Whoops! My fingers are covering it the next time but itis still visible. What sort of animal is it? I wasn't one hundred percent sure whether it was a native animal or a creature we really don't like having around. Let me know what you think.
I love the silhouettes of the families in the windows. The bird's eye view of the chase had my heart racing and I laughed when the rabbit hid with the gnomes. What a clever disguise!
A lovely ending...safe and sound in the arms of a friend.
