This week's story is Hello Lighthouse by Sophie Blackall. It has been shortlisted in the Picture Book of the Year category by the Children's Book Council of Australia.
Hello Lighthouse was the winner of the 2019 Caldecott Medal which is awarded by the Asscoiation for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. It is the award given in America to the illustrator of the most distinguished picture book for children.
There is a wonderful, mystical magic that seems to eminate from a lighthouse. Something fascinating and heroic, yet lonely. This story gives a wonderful insight into the life of the lighthouse keeper and the evolution of a lighthouse.
There are some amazing images of lighthouses in rough seas to be found. See what you can find.
