Learning at Home

While we were hoping this would not happen again, due to the high number of exposure sites and the way this virus spreads, we have had to revert back to remote learning from home.

Hopefully it is only for the four days of the seven day lockdown. Thank you all for your contribution and support.

Work was sent home on Thursday when we heard about the lockdown. (If your child was absent, please come to school office to collect). No other packs need to be collected at this stage.

Students were provided with instructions on how to access their Google Classroom. These instructions were sent home with the work packs.

The Department of Education has experienced some difficulties with EduStar and students accessing Google Meet. We have been working on this problem all day today and will continue to do so. It may be the case that we will be unable to do the Meets as per the schedule that was emailed yesterday. However, as stated above, we will continue to try so that we have it up and running.

Teachers will post various messages/tasks, etc on the Google Classroom. In order for your child to be marked as 'present' for the day, they need to engage with their teacher (or one of the other year level teachers) on Google Classroom or Google Meet.

I have added the Learning from Home booklet. Some of you will have seen this last year. It is made for our students (and parents) to help explain a little bit more about learning from home. I hope it helps.

Learning from Home Booklet

Learning does not always have to take the form of worksheets and online activities.

Examples of activities for learning could include:

  • Board games (these are great for fun and learning – Scrabble, Monopoly, Uno (and many, many more)
  • Cooking together
  • Making a seed garden
  • Using paper/cardboard and other craft items to make things
  • Fun outside at a park, in the back yard, courtyard, anywhere you have some space

If your child is ill and cannot do any learning for the day or something else prevents them from doing their set learning, please let your child's teacher know. If you choose to do some of the learning activities (as above), also let your child's teacher know with an email.

Please remember, at this time, the focus is keeping everyone safe and healthy. It is OK if you can only do parts of the learning for parts of the day but keep in contact with your child's teacher.

We are here to help and we will do what we can but we are not always able to solve the problem. We all need to work together to do the best for our students. Thank you again for your support.

Take care and stay safe.

Principal.

Mothers' Day Stall

Children love their mums!

We have lots of wonderful mums around our school; most of the female staff members are mothers and of course, the mums who are a parent of a child or children who attend school at Albion.

As a way for students to help celebrate Mothers' Day, the Parents' Club are holding a Mothers' Day stall on Thursday 11th May for all children.

There will be a wide range of gifts for children to purchase if they wish.

Items range in price from $3 to $10. Your child can buy one or more things.

You can send your child’s money to school before the stall and it will be held at the office for them or they can bring their money on the day. Please ensure it is in a named envelope, bag or purse/wallet.

Building Works Update

We have moved into the new facilities and while there is still a lot to do, all areas are up and running. Within Block A, there is a new entrance to the school, a new foyer, interview room and offices, a new First Aid room, new staffroom, an amubulant toilet and a meeting room for teachers.

Students are beginning to come through the new area and we look forward to parents being able to see it as soon as possible. Following are some more photos of some of these spaces.

Staffroom

Over the holidays, some of the defects in the new area will be addressed. The rest of the corridor in Block A (original building) is being patched and painted to match the new area. The lino is also being replaced to match. Some repairs to the windows around Block A are being addressed.
There will also be some plumbing works, rekeying of padlocks and other works.

Hat Photos

Due to the home learning situation, we were not able to have our annual hat parade. However, some students and staff made some hats and sent a photo.
Do you recognise the faces?
